The author, who has been a teacher, newspaper editor, press secretary to the Governor, and Executive Director of the Guam Council on Vocational Education, is now Assistant to the President of the Guam Community College. A performer in the 4th South Pacific Festival of Arts, he has been honored with various awards for "outstanding dedication and contribution to humanity," "preserving and promoting Chamorro culture," publican and organization.

Although Mariquita is not alive today, her spirit lives within the culture of her people, a culture which is sadly diminishing.
