Living among the trees
(for Randy)
nineteen years
is a long time
by today's standards
perhaps the ground
made it possible to live
among the trees
lives lived under
clear skies defy
the flavour of storms
you're not alone
if you looked in or up
through the canopies
of silent songs
these last few days
have moved rather sluggishly
and as rain descend slowly
among plants insisting on growing
i can see you clearly
holding out your hand
